EQUINOX - SRMC 2016
Without a scientific temper, and the spirit of inquiry, a medical student is woefully unprepared for the trials and tribulations that will confront them in both clinical practice as well as research endeavours. Now, with Equinox, SRMC will have yet another portal for students to show their mettle and compete amongst the best. The word Equinox is a Latin astronomical term, referring to a calendar day when the duration of both day and night are equal. We chose to name our conference thus, because it symbolises our desire to accord equal importance to established medical knowledge, or the day, while simultaneously providing an impetus for student-led research, which has been in the shadows for far too long.
SRMC Equinox is an initiative for students, by students, that aims to enable students by providing a platform to exhibit their research and clinical cases, while simultaneously reinforcing the core knowledge essential for modern medical practice. The goal is to bring about a paradigm shift in student culture, and inculcate an inclusive community where students can learn through trial and error, better their knowledge and emerge as better professionals.

JULY
MEDICON 2016
MEDICON is a research-focused medical conference for undergraduate medical students, and will take into account a range of pre-conference workshops related to research.Every year it is conducted in a different college, by a fresh committee. And almost a decade later, it has graced us with its presence at Era's Lucknow Medical College and Hospital this year!
This international conference is an exciting learning opportunity to meet fellow medical students, interact with some of the best doctors of different fields and enhance your social circle.
Every year, INFORMER, the main organizing team behind MEDICON aims to target a topic which is innovative, modern and scholarly.
The topic or theme includes a diagnostic problem and a corresponding challenge to form evidence based conclusions on medical management.
It works up students to wake their minds and explore the theme, infer from it and then present and vindicate their understanding of the given topic.
The theme for the 10th annual MEDICON is "Bench to bedside: Translational medicine"
Translational medicine is defined a discipline within biomedical and public health research that aims to improve the health of individuals and the community by "translating" scientific laboratory findings into everyday hospital diagnostic tools, medicines, procedures, policies and education of both patients and medical students.
It is an up and coming discipline under biomedical research and aims to accelerate the rate of discovery of new technology and treatments and its delivery to needy patients by using the unique "Bench to Bedside" approach.
"Bench to bedside" or from the research lab to hospital ward approach is a method to innovate medical tools by scientific methods and avail them to the public after the tools undergo vigorous research and trials.
The four day event will include paper presentations, workshops, competitions and a wide array of activities targeting academics.
The various competitions being held this time (quiz, debate, poster making, teacher student discussion panel etc.) will revolve around the dire need of this branch of medicine and its expansion.
So take this chance to participate while you can, or regret later!

11TH INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL EDUCATION CONFERENCE
APRIL 2Oth, 21st & 22nd 2016
Integrating Culture and Values into Health Professions Education
Integrating culture and values into the training of health professionals has been given less attention over the last decade due to greater focus on developing professional and clinical related competencies based on international best practices.
The mission of a healthcare profession is rooted in a set of core values. Misconceptions of cultural disparities, community and individual values can form barriers in the practice. With whom does the responsibility of integrating culture and values in education rest? Can relevant stakeholders collaborate to ensure that health professionals are culturally sensitive and values driven when serving the community?
There are needs to be a balance between the expectations of patients and contextual settings of communities with the cultural awareness and values of health professionals who are serving them. This balance is more crucial now more than ever, with the growing mobility of health professionals, students and patients. IMEC 2016 brings home this message to health care professionals, educators and employers. ABOUT IMEC-2016IMEC 2016 is a 3-day interactive conference featuring internationally renowned speakers and trainers, covering a wide range of topics related to the impact and outcome of culture and values in the education and practice of health professionals. IMEC 2016 is also platform for educational innovators to present their innovations for the Ron Harden Innovation in Medical Education (RHIME) Award.

Empower- a medical conference held annually at Govt.Stanley Medical College and Hospital is back again. This platform for the erudite invites you to come, engross yourselves in four days of intellectual sessions- our goal being the enrichment of medical research and knowledge.
EMPOWER, the pride of Government Stanley Medical college took its first breath in the year 2005 under the spirited support and motivation of Professor Dr. Vishwanath Rao, the Professor of Physiology Department. It quickly gained popularity with its thrilling and out-of- the-box approach to quizzing. Its enormous success brought about the launch of Eureka (Case report presentations and Research paper presentations), which was met with an encouraging response. EMPOWER evolved from a state level quiz to a national level conference with the introduction of EUREKA case report presentations in the year 2010, the first of its kind in entire Tamil Nadu. In the year 2012, Empower took a giant leap to become an international conference.
In the year 2013, The Workshops and Key Note Speakers lent a new dimension to the Empower International Medical Conference. The preconference workshops were on basics of ECG by Dr.Chenniappan. Through his series of six excellent lectures, he nurtured the passion for ECG in the students. The workshop was attended by 300 students who found it extremely useful. The Q&A session after every lecture got them thinking electrophysiologically as well as clinically.
